My Policies

Education

We need a teaching corps that reflects the diversity of our students. Philadelphia is a diverse city, and that diversity is reflected in its schoolchildren: 49 percent of whom identify as Black, while 22 percent identify as Latino, 14.6 percent as White, and 9.6 percent as Asian. Research shows that all students benefit from a diverse teaching corps, but low-income  Black boys who have a Black male teacher in the primary grades are more likely to graduate and pursue higher education. The absence of black male educators in our schools is a huge problem. Nationally, only 2 percent of K-12 teachers are Black men, and Philadelphia has been losing Black teachers over the last 20 years. Bringing more Black male teachers into our schools would be a game-changer for our city.

Crime Prevention

Crime Prevention Matters: Philadelphia is suffering from “Urban PTSD”. Without jobs and the proper guidance our youth feel a sense of hopelessness that tends to contribute to our crime problem.  We can no longer continue to place Band-Aids on gun violence; an issue that requires surgery.

Philadelphia: First Class City

Boost Philadelphia’s Status as a World First Class City. I seek to enhance and elevate our City’s rich legacy as a historical and cultural destination; and make Philadelphia a more livable City. A city that is safer for all our residents and families who choose to live, work, play and raise our children.

Reduce Our Carbon Footprint

We must create deeper incentives for businesses and our residents to use renewable energy

Invest in Philadelphia

Philadelphia should create a City owned bank where we can invest tax payers dollars in to companies that do business with our fair city.
